European polypropylene prices
were slow in the week ending Jan. 4. Market participants observed general
confusion amid subdued trading environments. This was due to weak demand and
continued winter holidays. Market participants were skeptical about any short-term
improvements in demand fundamentals, despite the public holiday observed in
Europe on January 6. A trader stated that
the whole market was low and much lower than usual. He also said that spot
pricing dynamics were unchanged at homo polymer spot prices and at Eur1,180/mt
FDNWE, and Eur1,600/mt F Germany on Dec. 21. The copolymer market also showed similar illiquidity, with
spot and contractual markets unchanged on the day, at Eur1,180/mt NWE and
Eur1,600/mt F Germany, respectively, on Jan. 4.
