Oversupply worries on Sept. 5 weighed down the
Asia naphtha industry. Crackers underwent turnarounds and were running at lower
rates, according to market sources. Market
sources said that the bearish sentiment was further exacerbated due to
continued low demand from China, which was also a key consumer. There was
little upside in the months ahead, as a result of further lockdowns in Chengdu
and Shenzhen, in addition to Shanghai. Midafternoon
trade on Sept. 5 showed a weaker sentiment, as brokers pegged the October-November Mean
Of Japan Naphtha Swap Time Spread at $1-2/mt lower than the Sept. 2 close. This
spread was minus $1-2/mt. Market sources stated that the
buying of naphtha was expected to continue this...
