The US methanol spot price remained steady for the
fifth straight day, as the market continues its flood of healthy supply amid
decreasing demand. May spot methanol was stable at 99c/gal FOB USG. It
came within an offer spread of 92-100c/gal FOB ITC. June methanol was flat
at 100c/gal FOB USG and came under an offer at 105c/gal FOB ITC. A source
stated that the US market is in a "long position". According to
a second source, the US market is currently oversupplied. This could be one
reason for the price stability observed during the week. One market
participant stated that prices could fall further due to oversupply. The
