According to market
participants, there were few new trades in the Asian naphtha markets. This was
due to weak sentiment on low margins for olefins production as well as its
downstream derivatives. Sources
said that the outlook on China's economic recovery was also dimming and that
there would be an increase in demand for petroleum chemicals. Sources from Southeast Asia said that although China will
play a role in [recovery], many manufacturing units are leaving China so it may
not be as significant as it was a few years ago. The key physical spread between CFR Northeast Asia and CFR
Japan naphtha was a sign of weak economics. It had fallen to $1/mt, or
