Asian paraxylene fell $2-3/mt on Sept. 2,
amid an increase in upstream naphtha, and a sharp fall of China's PTA Futures.
The week ended at $1,036.67-1,050.50/mt CFR China. This is down $32.66-38.50/mt
week-on-week. The
upstream C+F Japan naphtha price rose $21-26/mt on the day to $670-690/mt. This
squeezed the paraxylene/naphtha spread at $366.67-380.50/mt which is a decrease
of $33.16-38.50/mt per week. The margin
between CFR Unv1/China and FOB Korea isomer grade mixed xylene was $67.67-72.50/mt.
This resulted in a $20.16/mt decrease for non-integrated producers who are
unable to increase rates. Sources said
that the market has seen little liquidity in physical and derivatives markets,
