- There was no market activity- August gasoline prices rise, September falls

Due to a deepening backwardation of
gasoline futures, US Gulf nitration-grade toluenes and mixed xylenes stabilized on July 28. August
NGT was valued at 441c/gal and August MX at 446c/gal FOB USAG, for each flat of
the day. August RBOB closed higher by 3.58
Cents at 346.46c/gal and September closed lower at 310.18c/gal. The backwardation widened to 36.28 Cents due to this
divergence. According to a source, the
reason for this steep gasoline backwardation late in the month is because the
physical market is extremely tight due to lower gasoline imports as well as
strong demand from New York.
