Asian FOB Singapore MTBE rose $20.50-25.50/mt
to $1,055.37-1,080.25/mt on Aug. 23 because of spiking crude oil amid low
liquidity. Front-month
ICE Brent crude oil futures surged 3% to $97.52-103.50/b at 4:30pm Singapore
time (0830 GMT). The gasoline 92 RON was
up 1.94% to $110.39/b. After seeing active
short-covering in the last few days, the spot MTBE market discussion was muted. Despite no disproving signs, the backwardation forward curve
structure was not altered. South Korea has
been importing MTBE from China for consecutive months for two consecutive years. China's MTBE imports to South Korea rose 63.44% in July to
