China is down $10-15/mt. Limited buying appetite | Cracker operation under pressure

- China
is down $10-15/mt. Limited buying appetite- Cracker
operation under pressure

On July 6, Asian butadiene was still under
pressure due to a decline in the upstream energy sector and worries about a
persistently low downstream demand. It
is currently a difficult situation for butadiene producers as well as
downstream buyers. This is due to the low margins of cracker operations and
downstream products. Market sources stated that this was a challenge for both. The wide price gap between sellers and buyers hampered trade
discussions. Buyers wanted low $1,300-1,340s/mt,
while sellers were aiming for high $1,300-1,340s/mt. Although a deal was made at $1,360-1,400/mt CFRUnv1, it was
not confirmed immediately. Other
discussions took place in the meantime on a floating basis.
