Asian Methanol: Prices ended the week $3-$7/mt lower, with China leading the market direction on Nov. 14. Domestic methanol prices in east China tumbled Yuan 48/mt ($6.75/mt) day over day and Yuan 58/mt week over week at around Yuan 2,030-2,035/mt ex-tank for prompt spot cargoes. “There’s methanol in every nook and corner,” an importer said. “Tanks are full and inventory is high,” the importer added. Buyers and sellers in China estimate the coastal methanol inventory in China to be higher than 1.54 million mt this week, as of Nov. 14. In Southeast Asia, selling interest emerged on Nov. 14 with offers for any-December arrival cargoes at $320/mt CFR Southeast Asia and any-January arrival cargoes at $315/mt CFR Southeast Asia.
