Asian butadiene fell
$50-75/mt on May 6th, with CFR China falling to a 2-month low of $1300/mt. Spot price discussions were restricted throughout the week
of May 1 because key market participants in Asia were not trading due to public
holidays. The weak outlook for downstream
rubber markets impacted overall market sentiment and made it bearish. In the past week, only one spot deal has been reported. One spot cargo of 2,000 mt was traded at $1,200-1,220/mt CFR
China to ensure a prompt delivery in May. Some
sources claim that the deal did not accurately reflect the market price as the
cargo was originally meant to be shipped to Japan. The delivery was cancelled due to logistics problems.
