Asian butadiene prices were stable on Nov.
15, with the exception of domestic China prices, which rose Yuan 300/mt on the
same day at Yuan 7,00/mt. The
domestic Chinese price was $862-878/mt on an import parity basis. According to market sources, spot price negotiations in
dollar-denominated markets, such as CFR China and CFR Northeast Asia, were
restricted by the falling US dollar. According
to some market sources, a sharp fall in the US dollar could make it more
affordable for end-users to purchase dollar-denominated cargoes. This may
increase the prices of CFR China/Northeast Asia. The gap between domestic China and CFR China prices has
widened to $122-139/mt Nov. 15, from $80-85/mt the day before. This is the
