caprolactam fell $25-30/mt over the week. Both the CFR Far East Asia marker and
the CFR Southeast Asia marker remained at $1,600-1,640/mt Dec. 15. The market
continued to be impacted by the lackluster downstream activity in the nylon
sector. Although production was limited by most producers, buyers still
suggested a lower price range due to weaker nylon demand. In Southeast
Asia, the weak-demand situation was also repeated. Market sources expect
the sluggish consumption to continue beyond January before any clarity can be
seen. The domestic East China ex-tank clip was discussed at Yuan
11,300/mt. Materials from South China were heard at Yuan 11600/mt. Both
hovered around $1,629.58-1,672.84/mt when you factor in the USD/CNY exchange
