Buyers prioritize stock reduction before Lunar New Year / China local prices fell amid slowing nylon 6 demand

Asian caprolactam prices unchanged in the week ended Jan. 8, amid slowing downstream demand, trade sources said. "Prices were largely stable as downstream activity slowed partially from nylon 6, with most producers prioritizing inventory reduction ahead of the February Lunar New Year holiday," said a Taiwanese buyer source. "In China, caprolactam operating rates were heard at around 70%, while downstream nylon 6 rates fell to 68% this week." Despite softer market conditions and easing supply tightness, buyers remained on the sidelines, restocking only as needed while awaiting clearer market direction. "Sales were subdued as most downstream buyers are currently depleting their existing inventory before considering restocking, as prices remain elevated," said a Chinese trader source.
