Prices likely to stabilize in near term: buyer, producer / Upstream benzene FOB Korea marker down $9/mt WOW

Asian caprolactam prices continued rising during the week ended Dec. 11, still buoyed by higher domestic China prices resulting from production cuts. CFR Far East Asia caprolactam prices up $10/mt week over week at $1,265/mt on Dec. 11, within tradable indications heard at $1,255-$1,270/mt. In the East China domestic market, molten caprolactam prices increased Yuan 150/mt to Yuan 9,450-9,500/mt over the week ended Dec. 11, while domestic solid form caprolactam prices were up Yuan 100/mt at Yuan 9,600-9,700/mt during the same period. "The market in China remains firm due to supply control. I don't think there'll be a short-term price correction as the processing spread between benzene and caprolactam needs to be restored.
