Calpine and ExxonMobil Sign CO2 Transportation and Storage Agreement for Power Generation Project

• ExxonMobil will transport and store CO2 up to 2,000,000 metric tons of CO2 per year from Calpine’s natural gas-powered power generation facility.
• Calpine will produce enough electricity to power more that 500,000 homes at 500 Megawatts.
• The project is expected to boost U.S. Energy, improve industry competitiveness and create jobs.
• Exxon Mobil Corporation has announced a deal with Calpine Corporation to transport and store CO2 emissions from the Baytown Energy Center near Houston, which is a cogeneration plant. Calpine’s Baytown Carbon Capture and Storage Project is a part of the project that is designed for the facility’s CO2 emission1. This will enable the 24/7 supply low-carbon electricity and steam to industrial facilities nearby.
