FOB China AA offers unchanged on week / High production rates weigh on East China VAM prices

AA/VAM: Market participants continued to test the bottom in the Asian acetic acid and vinyl acetate monomer markets, but prices ended the week largely stable on Aug. 7 amid cautious trading, sources said. Acetic acid spot cargoes were offered at similar levels to the previous week at $285/mt on Aug. 7, while local prices in east China fell Yuan 10/mt over the same period to Yuan 2,180-2,280/mt ex-tank. FOB China acetic acid, CFR Southeast Asia and CFR Far East Asia stable week over week at $280/mt, $380/mt and $400/mt, respectively, on Aug. 7. In the Asian vinyl acetate monomer market, high production rates and sluggish downstream demand weighed on domestic prices in east China.
