While the Asian caprolactam market
declined week-on-week, the upstream benzene markets gained ground. The volatility in crude oil prices over the last few weeks,
as well as uncertainty about consumer demand after the emergence of the new
omicron version of caprolactam, put a strain on buyers' appetite for the
product. A source claimed that caprolactam
demand was slowed by tight margins in nylon production. According to Northeast Asia sources, January material had a
buying indicator of $2,050/mt-$2,070/mt and a selling indication of
$2,060/mt-$2,090/mt. CFR Far East Asia
caprolactam was $2,055/mt-$2,077/mt Dec. 9, an increase of $5/mt over the

discussions in Southeast Asia were sporadic, but regular volumes of caprolactam
