Due to muted trading activity, the
propylene market in China remained stable on Nov. 16. January ICE Brent crude
oil futures contract rose $1.24/b to $93.92/b at 0830 GMT. However, the
increase in crude oil prices did not bring about increased propylene buying
interest. Due to weak downstream PP
demand, buying interest was low. The
spread in price between propylene and polypropylene was $40/mt on Nov. 16, which
is well below the $150/mt breakeven spread. In plant news, South Korea’s SK Advanced plans to decrease
the run rate at its Ulsan propane dehydrogenation facility to 80% in December.
