- Buyers in wait-and-see mode- Limited Supply

Due to a lack of buying urgency,
discussions on the Asian ethylene markets were limited on September 15. Given the weak downstream
margins and low demand, buyers preferred to wait and see. Due to the low operating rates of naphtha-fed steam
crackers, Asia, offers were limited. The
benchmark C+F Japan naphtha marker, which was $675.25/mt as of Sept. 15, Asian
close, was down $0.75/mt. The spread for
ethylene-naphtha was $294.75/mt. This is lower than the average spread of
$300-$350/mt.
