US spot export PVC prices were flat during
the week February 22nd amid limited market activity and stable fundamentals.
This was despite recession fears and further US interest rate increases. According to US Census Bureau data ,
January's US housing start total reached 1.309million units. This is the
lowest number since 2006. It also predates the global financial crisis. The 2022
start rate fell 22% in comparison to 2021. This is a sign of softer market
conditions, such as higher interest rates and lower inflation. Westlake
CEO Albert Chao stated that 2022 starts fell 22% compared to 2021. This is due
