Market activity increased in the week that
began Jan. 9. However, no deals were made as the market considers the possible
impact of Russian sanctions. According to a source, the strike at
Valero’s 270,000 b/d Pembroke refinery continues. Since early
December, over 200 members of the GMB/Unit trade unions have been striking for
pay. Since early December, over 200 members of the
GMB and Uniteb> trade unions have been striking over pay. The
January/February CIF Naphtha Swap Spread was up 2.25/mt and was assessed at
$5.50-6.75/mt. February/March was $2/mt lower at $5.25/mt. February/March was
$19.40/b. February's East-West spread -- which is the premium of the CFR Japan
naphtha cargo exchange over the CIF NW equivalent -- was down $2.50/mt at
$19/mt. February was $1.75-2.85/mt.
