of Aug. 12. The CFR China price reached a six-month low at $1,000/mt due to
rising Chinese supplies. Asian
butadiene dropped $130-$150/mt from a week before. Due to rising butadiene production, Asia's demand and supply
conditions are expected to be more severe in September than in August. Sources close to Shanghai Petrochemical said that China's
120,000-mt/year butadiene facility in Shanghai was restarted by Shanghai
Petrochemical in the week of August 7. After
a fire at the mono ethylene glycol plant, on June 18, the plant was forced to
close. Sources close to Sinopec Maoming
Petrochemical in China also said that the company plans to restart its butadiene
plant of 50,000 tons per year...
