- Bullish selling sentiment on supply constraints- Ethylene-naphtha spread widens

The Asian ethylene markets saw limited
activity on Sept. 5, with few offers due to tight supply. Despite the tight supply, selling sentiment was
bullish. This is especially true considering that supply will likely be further
squeezed by upcoming turnarounds. Most buyers were neutral, though some
said that tepid downstream demand would limit ethylene purchases due to the
recent price rise. The benchmark C+F Japan Naphtha marker was down
$4-5/mt to $666-680/mt as of the Sept. 5 Asian close. The spread
for ethylene-naphtha was $334-350/mt. This is within the range of $300-$350/mt.
