Asian monoethylene glycol imports are
higher as trade talks improve following gains in crude oil prices Feb. 14. April ICE Brent crude oil futures contract
increased 53 cents/b to $86.20/b by 4:30pm Singapore time (0830 GMT). February
14. On the Dalian Commodity Exchange, the May MEG
futures were traded at Yuan 4,187/mt. Trader said
that arbitrage from China to Europe was possible, but European demand was low,
and market uncertainty persisted because of a longer voyage duration. The freight
from the US to China was valued at $97-102/mt. This is a $1-2/mt decrease on
February 14, and corresponds to a 10,000-12,000 mt parcel.
