Asian monoethylene glycol imports were
higher day-on-day Jan. 10, due to higher futures. At 4:30pm Singapore time
(0830 GMT), Jan. 10, the ICE March Brent crude oil derivatives contract fell
$1.20/b to $79.34/b. The most traded May
MEG contract on Dalian Commodity Exchange climbed Yuan 66/mt to Yuan 4,146/mt
exp-tank. Sources claimed that the
domestic prices are currently at Yuan 4,050/mtex-tank, which is roughly parity
with import prices. This was after taking into account an import duty of 5.5%
and an export rebate 13%, as well as current exchange rates. MEG units operate at 50% to 55% operating rates according to
