US Gulf Coast spot MTBE flats prices
dropped further to 372.36c/gal FOB USG July 13. This was 3.09 less than the
previous day. Front-month NYMEX futures dropped to
323.37c/gal while the premium to front-month gasoline remained stable at
48.99c/gal. Participants in the market said that they often
compare reformate pricing with MTBE, particularly during low liquidity. According to
data from the US Energy Information Administration, gasoline blending component
inventories rose in the week ending July 8. Stocks stood
at 206.9million barrels, an increase of 2.7% over the previous week but still
4.1% below a year ago. The week saw refinery utilization rise slightly,
with 94.9% showing an increase of 0.4 percentage points. Refinery
