Dec. 16 saw the Asian propylene market remain unchanged, as market participants were busy negotiating 2022 terms. Spot buyers were not interested in a rise in crude oil prices. The ICE February Brent crude oil futures contract was $1.29/b higher than the previous Asian close of $74.57/b at 4:30 PM Singapore time (0830 GMT). This is below the breakeven point of $150/mt. According to a source, China's Jiangsu Sailboat Petrochemical plans to open its 260,000 mt/year Acrylonitrile Plant at Lianyungang Dec. 30. The plant will be added to the existing ACN units at Lianyungang with a capacity of 260,000 mt/year. Both units are running at maximum capacity. A methanol-to olefins plant is also owned by the company.
