Asian benzene prices rose May 9, tracking firmer upstream naphtha prices. Asian benzene up $9/mt day over day at $684/mt FOB Korea May 9. On May 9, crude oil and naphtha were both higher. C+F Japan's naphtha price was up $14.50/mt to $569/mt, while the front-month ICE Brent contract increased by $1.71/b during the session. East China domestic mark up Yuan 40/mt on the day to Yuan 5,658/mt, while CFR China marker is $6/mt more at $699/mt. No trades were reported during the Market on Close assessment process. The amount of physical benzene that was traded in Singapore during the MOC process increased steadily from month to month.
