Asian Benzene: Steady despite firmer Chinese domestic prices July/August spread shrinks to $1/mt Spread US-Asia at plus $79.67/mt /Europe-Asia spread at minus $26.58/mt

On May 23, Asian benzene was unchanged from the previous day at $713.33/mt, FOB Korea. This is despite higher Chinese domestic prices. The east China domestic mark Yuan was 47/mt more expensive than the previous day, at Yuan 5,985/mt. CFR China's marker was also $5/mt more expensive on that session at $731/mt. According to sources, the buying interest in China increased, with a stronger appetite for imports of June cargoes. This was partly due the restart of several SM factories in the next week. On May 23, crude oil and naphtha both fell. The front-month ICE Brent contract dropped 44 cents/b in the session, as the Asian close was $63.93/b. Meanwhile, the -C+F Japan Naphtha marker fell $3/mt to $560.375/mt. Three trades were recorded during the Market on Close process....
