Sources said that the rise in Asian benzene was due to rising downstream styrene prices and Chinese domestic prices. Asian benzene up $5.67/mt day over day at $820/mt FOB Korea March 28. East China's domestic mark up Yuan 80/mt a day over day to Yuan 6,822/mt. CFR China's marker increased $9/mt in a single session, to $835.50/mt. Due to the closeness of the US-Asia arbitration, Asian benzene is increasingly affected by Chinese purchasing interest, which supports prices.
