Weekly MOPK Asian benzene fell by $10.25/mt from day to day on April 25 as the benzene/naphtha differential narrowed. The Asian benzene/naphtha price spread decreased to $131/mt due to a closed US-Asia arbitration, its lowest level since December 13, 2022 when it was about $127.33/mt. Since May 31, 2024, when the spread peaked at $416.08/mt, it has been steadily narrowing. Since March 3, it has decreased by $87.125/mt. According to sources on the market, a typical spread between $100 and $150/mt is needed to breakeven for benzene production. According to data, South Korea exported 313,276mt of benzene in March.
