- Benzene Market Supported by Energy Products- Styrene downtrend to close arbitration from US: trader

European benzene prices rose on Nov. 3,
because the market remained within a contango structure after November's
settlement of the industry contract pricing. Supported by upstream
pricing, the November contract price was settled at $859/mt (up $62/mt). The market received little downstream support, with styrene
monomer continuing to fall throughout October. Styrene spot price continued to fall in Europe despite
numerous plant closings. The forward loading
laycan for five to 30 days was valued at $1,079-$1,119/mt FOB AR, down $30-$35/mt,
with no buy interest against December and January offers. Traders said that imports will make up the European volume
gaps in the second half of the year. However, the downtrend continues, which
was closing the arbitrage route to the US.
