Benzene liquidity thin amid weaker pricing Styrene turnarounds keep supply tight, dampen trade



US April DDP-benzene declined by 1 cent/gal to 407c/gal on April 22,
amid weaker WTI crude oil futures. WTI crude oil futures
dropped by $1-2/bl, to settle at $102-105/bl. This is a decrease of 1.66%. The benzene to crude ratio was 1.67, an increase from 1.65
on April 21. According to a source, the
benzene market this week was considered inactive and sparsely traded. This sentiment was confirmed by sources throughout the week
in both the benzene as well as styrene markets. Since April 14, the benzene trade window that informs the
May benzene contract is open. Initially,
traders with bullish sentiment saw liquidity at higher prices. However, this
liquidity has diminished as prices have fallen amid weakening demand and
