Due to a lack of liquidity, the Asian styrene monmer
market ended its trading session Nov. 2 with a lower volume and in line with
domestic China's movements. CFR
China styrene monmer dropped $7/mt to $923/mt CFR China. The east China prompt
marker was Yuan 65/mt at Yuan 8120/mt ex-tank. This equates to $975.79-$990.89/mt
if you consider import-parity. As sources
spoke of weak global demand, which has slowed down restocking interest from the
downstream, discussions in FOB China markers and CFR China were muted. The arbitrage was less feasible due to high shipping costs
and a bearish outlook on demand, despite a spread of $200-$220/mt Asia-Europe
