The price of recycled polyethylene Terephthalate in Asia was stable during the week ending March 19, according to discussions that were prevalent. Demand was hindered by the lack of mandates for post consumer recycled content, since most buyers preferred to buy cheaper virgin material. Export demand was low to Europe, but stable to the US. A trader reported that the US was requesting R-PET pellets, bottle bales, and flakes due to the uncertainty of the US-Mexico relationship. Sources said that mixed blue flakes are more readily available than clear ones, and priced between $20-$40/mt less. FOB Southeast Asia, R-PET Clear Flakes remained stable at $900/mt. Sources said that Malaysia had the cheapest bales followed by Indonesia, Thailand and Thailand. Buyers report that sourcing is done quarterly. Sources report a slowdown...
