PTA prices in Asia fell week-over-week amid renewed concerns about a weakening of downstream demand and low margins. PTA FOB China was $624/mt July 11, a $10/mt decrease day-over-day. The average weekly price was down $11.4/mt from the previous week to $634.2/mt for the week ending July 11. Sources said that PTA producers are struggling again with low margins in China as concerns about downstream polyester activity rise. A trader from Singapore stated that the decline in polyester production in China has caused concern. He said that the market has changed since "the" start of the week, and PTA markets have started to fall.
