Asian Propylene: Prices mixed, weekly markets slip / SE Asia, Taiwan, Japan markets fall / Propylene oxide imports fall in South Korea

Asian propylene markets were mixed Dec. 19, with daily seaborne prices steady and weekly market prices lower. In the daily seaborne markets, export indications from traders and buyers remained steady from the previous day at $710/mt FOB Korea and $740/mt CFR China. In China, Shandong ex-tank discussions were heard at Yuan 5,890-5,940/mt, marking the fifth consecutive day of price decline. East China discussions were heard around Yuan 5,900-5,950/mt, stable from the previous day. Elsewhere in the region, demand was heard to be slow in Taiwan. The poor buying atmosphere was primarily due to the overall weakness in downstream polypropylene, according to a Taiwan-based buyer. “Feels like supply is moderate, but demand is very weak,” the buyer said.
