activity remained low across most Asian polystyrene markets this week. Slowing demand continues
to cause pressure, and this week was particularly evident for the expandable
polystyrene grade (EPS). The offer
indications for general-purpose EPS grade FOB Northeast Asia cargoes were heard
at $1,300-1,320/mt, as compared to the $1,370/mt received a week ago. Premium material fire-retardant EPS was also offered at
$1450-1,470/mt. The FOB Northeast Asia
basis EPS general-purpose grade fell to $1290/mt, while the EPS fire-retardant
grades on the same basis dropped to $1,440/mt. Both fell $70/mt each week. The general-purpose and high-impact grades of polystyrene
were not discussed as China was closed on the Golden Week public holidays. The price of GPPS...
