Asia Polyethylene: Chinese and Vietnam markets weaken amid slow demand; SEA rangebound / No policy-driven rebound in China / Southeast Asia, Vietnam buying on just-needs basis

The Chinese polyethylene market softened in the week to Dec. 17 amid continued downstream weakness and slow buying activity ahead of the year-end. HDPE film stable day over day and down $30/ mt week over week at $815/mt CFR FE Asia Dec. 17, while LLDPE was down $5/mt day over day and down $15/mt week at $770/mt CFR FE Asia over the same period. LDPE prices continue to decline week over week, falling another $10/mt to $910/mt—the lowest level since July 12, 2023. Prices remain weak amid expectations of additional LDPE/EVA supply entering the market over the fourth quarter of 2025 to the first quarter of 2026.
