Asian PET - Fundamentals remain the same, but offer less
on upstream falls- Bottle-grade PET demand-supply unchanged- Polyester yarn and fiber grade weakIn the week ending July 20, demand for PET
chips in bottle form was steady. Some producers claimed that they had sold out
of August-loading cargoes so they started offering September- and
October-loading shipments. As
inventory levels were low, prompt August-loading shipments were offered at a
$50-55/mt premium over current prices of $1110-1150/mt FOB China. According to market sources, operating rates for PET chips
in bottles were high. They were estimated at 90% in China. According to a trader, inventory levels in producers'
facilities and warehouses were estimated at 10 days. This is lower than the
usual stock levels of 15-20 days. The
