Asian paraxylene prices fell Oct. 17 as crude oil values dropped, while an incident at a petrochemical complex in the region provided little support. Asian PX CFR Taiwan/China and FOB Korea at $782.67/metric ton and $761.67/mt, respectively, Oct. 17, both down $3.50/mt day over day. Market sentiment was unsettled by a further drop in crude oil prices. Crude oil prices dropped in midmorning trading in Asia on Oct. 17, after US President Donald Trump said he and Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to meet to discuss ending the war in Ukraine. The December ICE Brent crude futures were assessed at $61.06/b at the Oct. 17 Asian close, down from $62.37/b the previous day.
