Asian OX: Mixed sentiment and tight supply limits trading / CFR China stays stable WOW / Chinese PA cut rates due to tight feedstock supply

The Asian orthoxylene market saw subdued trading activity in the week ended July 31, as limited spot availability and uncertainty surrounding demand prospects weighed on buying interest. CFR/FOB China markers stable on the week at $1,160/mt July 31, and FOB Korea $11/mt lower on the week at $1,250/mt July 31. Tight OX supply continued to underpin the Asian market, with offers remaining scarce across the region. Rising production costs, particularly from reformate, were also heard to discourage spot sales at a low level, leading to sellers’ limited willingness to offer additional volumes. Meanwhile, August-loading cargoes from China are expected to remain short until the two main suppliers restart after maintenance, according to a few Asian participants.
