due to rising downstream and upstream prices. However, end-users were skeptical
about any improvement in the markets. One Chinese end-user stated that there had been some price
recovery for phthalic anhydride. However, others suggested that this could be
due to unusually low operating rates from OX-based PA manufacturers in China
and elsewhere in Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia. PA CFR China rose $5-6/mt this week to $1,015-1,050/mt. This
assessment was made on Aug. 11. Sinopec
kept its OX domestic prices stable at Yuan 8,000-8,500/mt, or $1,029.60-1,050.50/mt. According to market sources, the East China OX inventory was
