The Asian naphtha
market saw gains due to tight supply and closed arbitrage lanes. Demand was
mixed because olefin margins were below breakeven and the reforming spread
reached multi-year highs. The Singapore reforming spread reached a two-year peak at
$14.25/b-$14.35/b at the Asian close on February 8, with a surge in gasoline
demand outpacing that of naphtha. The
reforming spread (the difference between Singapore 92RON gasoline and Singapore
naphtha derivative) was at its highest on Sept. 16, 2019, at $15.35/b-$15.40/b.
This spread could encourage gasoline producers to use naphtha mix stocks,
potentially increasing demand. The weak olefin
margins had a negative impact on demand as the CFR Northeast...
