Prices on the key markets for polyester yarn and fiber continued to fall, despite a weakening market. Participants cited geopolitical tensions as a reason for the slowdown in demand. One producer said that the peak season of polyester production this year is likely to be over early. In the short term, operating rates at polyester plants are likely to be reduced.
