Asian ethylene prices remain stable due to low downstream prices and tepid
buyer interest. Market
participants stated that they weren't in a hurry to purchase additional
material because of the weak derivative margins. A trader based in Southeast Asia stated that HDPE and MEG,
the main drivers of ethylene demand, are weak. Therefore, there is no incentive
to import ethylene. The operating rates of
ethylene downstream plants in Asia are expected to be low. A trader based in Southeast Asia stated that no buyers want
