On April 9, the ethylene market in Asia was still dominated by a bearish mood. Participants remained worried about the downstream demand and the inventory levels due to trade tensions, even though the ethylene-naphtha margins continued to improve as a result of the falling naphtha. The lack of clarity in global trade and the deterioration of downstream demand impacted the ethylene market. Few bids or offers were heard on the fixed price markets. Formula-based discussions increased as buyers tried to reduce market uncertainty. Discussions took place at a premium of $0-$10/mt CFR Northeast Asia.
