In the week that ended July 11, Asian ethylene markets were largely quiet. China saw some demand, but the majority of participants remained in an "await-and-see" mode due to uncertainty in the near term. During the week there were very few bids or offers, and many participants preferred formula-based discussions due to upstream volatility. Late in the week there was some activity, as demand from upcoming PVC startups in China was heard. The results of a tender issued on July 10 for ethylene due to arrive in August were not available at the time this article was written. Sources expect that discussions will continue next week because of the demand from new PVC startups in China. The C+F Japan Naphtha Marker was down $6.75/mt from the previous day to $584.25/mt...
