The availability of methanol in India was
good, but spot prices fell as the depreciation against the dollar slowed spot
buying. Sources also said that China's near-term outlook was less optimistic as
olefin prices are at their two-year lows. The near-term outlook in China was bearish due to olefin
prices at two-year lows. The week ended
Nov. 4 saw propylene prices fall marginally to $800-820/mt CFR China, but they
were still below cost for MTOs, market sources said. However, supply was steady. CFR India Methanol
declined $3/mt on the day and $11/mt on the week to be assessed as $292/mt
