In the week ending July 11, Asian markets for butadiene were mixed. Mid-week saw a rise in buying activity, and some replenishment was seen on the Chinese domestic market. As local prices rose in China, discussions about butadiene imports were also boosted. Higher bids were seen in the last part of the week. End-user bids of $1,050-$1,060/mt FCL China were received on July 11 against $1,080-$1,120/mt. In South Korea and Taiwan however, the demand was low due to persistently slow downstream activity and lower operating rates at derivatives facilities. The buying indications remain at $1,000/mt CIF NE Asia against the selling indications of $1,100/mt.
